Hatha & Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Courses India

Hatha & Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course

SWAN Yoga Retreat Assagao, Goa, India, in association with Bristol City Yoga
Presents
Hatha & Ashtanga Teacher Training Course
With an Introduction to Ayurveda, Yoga Nidra & Antar Mouna

28th January - 4th March, 2013
30 day intensive course, giving you a foundation in teaching Hatha and Ashtanga yoga. The course is residential, 6 days a week for up to 10 hours a day with Sundays completely free.
This course gives you the opportunity to develop your own practice in Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Nidra and Antar Mouna. You will also have an opportunity for an Ayurvedic consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic Doctor. This course is an opportunity for self- learning and a starting place for teaching yoga.
On this course we will establish the basics of teaching, communication, adjustments, sequencing, anatomy & physiology, yoga philosophy, pranayama & meditation and all aspects of yoga to give you a solid foundation. You will learn to teach and adjust both Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. You will be exploring all these topics on a personal level as well as for teaching purposes.
All the teachers at Bristol City Yoga are dedicated to teaching well and safely and this course will give you the basis for this. Teaching is a vocation and a journey of depth and richness. This course simply offers you a starting point.
Teaching yoga and maintaining a practice involves a lot of hard work and discipline and this course is designed to give you a foundation reflecting that. It is important you understand this is not a "yoga holiday" or a "retreat" before you apply.
Due to the intensive nature of this course it is essential that you are both mentally and physically well and stable before starting to study with us.
There are also non-contact hours included on this course. Some of these hours must be completed as pre-homework which consists of reading and report writing as well as some practical exercises to give you a good preparation and a look at what we will be working on. The homework will be sent to you once you have been accepted on the course and must be completed before the course starts. In addition, in order to qualify you will write three major assignments on completion of the course: an essay, an "open book" general exam and an "open book" anatomy exam.
On completion of the course we encourage you to apprentice yourself to a good and experienced teacher and we are willing to help you find such placements.
There is so much valuable experience to be gained working alongside knowledgeable teachers for an extended period of time that you cannot attain by attending a course. For those of you who already teach it will fine tune your skills and allow you an opportunity to delve deeper into your understanding of teaching.
Overview of the Course
Asana
We will start the course with asana suitable for complete beginners. You will learn to structure classes according to good energetic and physical principles, creating balanced asana classes.
